PoiGeek Co-Founder: Sean Gies
After working as a software engineer for over 10 years, Sean Gies partnered with Isa Isaacs to create the world’s first poi education web site to offer lessons in a variety of formats at an affordable price.
With an industry background focused in digital video software, Sean brings his expertise in graphics and media technology to ensure PoiGeek’s students have the highest quality experience. Having worked on QuickTime, Safari for Windows, and most recently, the iPhone and iPod touch at Apple Inc., he’s expanding into the entrepreneurial world. PoiGeek showcases the exciting technologies he’s been working with in recent years, from high-definition and on-demand streaming video to hand-held iPod and iPhone digital media devices.
Beyond the technology, PoiGeek affords Sean an opportunity to exercise his creative side, by expanding his reach into the video production process. He enjoyed a brief 3-year stint as a photography student before turning all his attentions to the software engineering program at the California Polytechnic State University.
In April of 2006, Sean started his own poi practice. When he heard of the Temple of Poi Computer Based Training program, Sean eagerly began instruction at Isa’s first poi company. Many classes and poi events later, they formed PoiGeek.
